"Simulation of Urban MObility" (SUMO) is an open source, highly portable, microscopic traffic simulation package designed to handle large road networks and different modes of transport. It is mainly developed by employees of the Institute of Transportation Systems at the German Aerospace Center. It allows for intermodal simulation including pedestrians and comes with a large set of tools for scenario creation.
 
SUMO allows modelling and analyzing intermodal traffic systems, including road vehicles, public transport, cargo logistics and pedestrians. Included with SUMO is a wealth of supporting tools, which handle tasks like route finding, visualization, network import and emission calculation. SUMO can be enhanced with custom models and it provides various APIs to remotely control and influence the simulation.
 
Traffic simulations facilitate the evaluation of infrastructure changes as well as policy changes before implementing them on the road. For example, the effectiveness of environmental zones or traffic light control algorithms can be tested and optimized in a simulation before being deployed in the real world.

Ns is a discrete event simulator targeted at networking research. Ns provides substantial support for simulation of TCP, routing, and multicast protocols over wired and wireless (local and satellite) networks.
 
The ns-3 project is committed to building a solid simulation core that is well documented, easy to use and debug, and that caters to the needs of the entire simulation workflow, from simulation configuration to trace collection and analysis. Furthermore, the ns-3 software infrastructure encourages the development of simulation models which are sufficiently realistic to allow ns-3 to be used as a realtime network emulator, interconnected with the real world and which allows many existing real-world protocol implementations to be reused within ns-3.
 
The ns-3 simulation core supports research on both IP and non-IP based networks. However, the large majority of its users focuses on wireless/IP simulations which involve models for Wi-Fi, WiMAX, or LTE for layers 1 and 2 and a variety of static or dynamic routing protocols such as OLSR and AODV for IP-based applications.

Synthea is a Synthetic Patient Population Simulator. The goal is to output synthetic, realistic (but not real), patient data and associated health records in a variety of formats.

OpenLB is a C++ library for the implementation of lattice Boltzmann simulations which addresses a vast range of problems in computational fluid dynamics. The package is mainly intended as a programming support for researchers and engineers who simulate fluid flows by means of a lattice Boltzmann method. 
 
The source code is written in a modular way, which make is easily extensible to include new physical content. The overall structure of the library enables for a fast implementation of both simple applications and advanced CFD problems.

PYLEECAN project provides a user-friendly, unified, flexible simulation framework for the multiphysic design and optimization of electrical machines and drives. The main objective of PYLEECAN is to boost reproducible research and open-science in electrical engineering. Thus, it is intended for researchers, R&D engineers and teachers in electrical engineering, both on standard and novel topologies of electrical machines.
