Firecracker is an open source virtualization technology that is purpose-built for creating and managing secure, multi-tenant container and function-based services that provide serverless operational models. Firecracker runs workloads in lightweight virtual machines, called microVMs, which combine the security and isolation properties provided by hardware virtualization technology with the speed and flexibility of containers.
 
The main component of Firecracker is a virtual machine monitor (VMM) that uses the Linux Kernel Virtual Machine (KVM) to create and run microVMs. Firecracker has a minimalist design. It excludes unnecessary devices and guest-facing functionality to reduce the memory footprint and attack surface area of each microVM. This improves security, decreases the startup time, and increases hardware utilization.
 
Firecracker was developed at Amazon Web Services to accelerate the speed and efficiency of services like AWS Lambda and AWS Fargate.

RT-Thread (Real-Time Thread) is an open source embedded real-time operating system. It has a strong scalability: from a nano kernel running on a tiny MCU, for example ARM Cortex-M0, or Cortex-M¾/7, to a rich feature system running on MIPS32, ARM Cortex-A, even the emerging open source RISC-V architecture is supported. RT-Thread can run either on single-core systems or on symmetric multi-core processors(SMP) systems.
 
Kernel includes preemptive multi-task real-time scheduler, and infrastructure such as semaphore, mutex, mailbox, message queue, signal, event, memory management, timer management, interrupt management, etc. It also includes libcpu/BSP (file related to chip transplantation/board support package). It supports FAT, UFFS, NFSv3, ROMFS, RAMFS file system.

Cilium is open source software for providing and transparently securing network connectivity and loadbalancing between application workloads such as application containers or processes. Cilium operates at Layer 3/4 to provide traditional networking and security services as well as Layer 7 to protect and secure use of modern application protocols such as HTTP, gRPC and Kafka. Cilium is integrated into common orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes.
 
A new Linux kernel technology called eBPF is at the foundation of Cilium. It supports dynamic insertion of eBPF bytecode into the Linux kernel at various integration points such as: network IO, application sockets, and tracepoints to implement security, networking and visibility logic. eBPF is highly efficient and flexible.

However, the Linux/Microcontroller Project has grown both in brand recognition and coverage of processor architectures. Today's uClinux as an operating system includes Linux kernel releases for 2.0 2.4 and 2.6 as well as a collection of user applications, libraries and tool chains. uClinux is mostly used in Embedded and Gaming device. uClinux is ported to Cisco routers, Motorola, Intel and many other devices and microcontrollers.

CPUFreq is a lightweight CPU scaling monitor and powerful CPU management tool. The extension is using Linux kernel to collect information and manage power governors, frequencies etc. It needs root permission to able changing governors.
 
It has two power management models on Linux OS. First, the standard acpi-cpufreq kernel module provides many static and dynamic CPU governors like ondemand (default), powersave, performance, userspace, conservative, schedutil, interactive, custom profiles with a lot of options and separate core profiles configurations. Second, intel-pstate presents only two dynamic embedded power profiles: powersave (default) and performance.
