ToaruOS is a completely-from-scratch hobby operating system: bootloader, kernel, drivers, C library, and userspace including a composited graphical UI, dynamic linker, syntax-highlighting text editor, network stack, etc. ToaruOS is intended as an educational resource, providing a representative microcosm of functionality found in major desktop operating systems.

pg_cron is a simple cron-based job scheduler for PostgreSQL (10 or higher) that runs inside the database as an extension. It uses the same syntax as regular cron, but it allows you to schedule PostgreSQL commands directly from the database. pg_cron can run multiple jobs in parallel, but it runs at most one instance of a job at a time. If a second run is supposed to start before the first one finishes, then the second run is queued and started as soon as the first run completes.

Kilo is a small text editor in less than 1K lines of code (counted with cloc). Kilo does not depend on any library (not even curses). It uses fairly standard VT100 (and similar terminals) escape sequences.

Vanilla OS is an immutable operating system that prioritizes security and stability. Its core parts of the system are locked down to prevent unwanted changes or corruption caused by third-party applications or faulty updates. Current Vanilla OS is based on Ubuntu-based Linux distribution that provides vanilla GNOME without any changes to the user experience.&nbsp;
Installing packages in the root partition is possible using <a href="https://github.com/Vanilla-OS/ABRoot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABRoot</a>, but this approach isn&rsquo;t ideal or recommended as the root partition is small and should get used for kernel modules or root-side essential packages only. <a href="https://github.com/Vanilla-OS/apx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Apx</a> is a package manager created by the Vanilla OS team is recommended to install packages. Apx can install packages from any Linux distribution (Fedora, Ubuntu, Arch Linux, openSUSE, Alpine Linux, etc).

GNU `gettext' is an important step for the GNU Translation Project, as it is an asset on which we may build many other steps. This package offers to programmers, translators, and even users, a well integrated set of tools and documentation. Specifically, the GNU `gettext' utilities are a set of tools that provides a framework to help other GNU packages produce multi-lingual messages. These tools include a set of conventions about how programs should be written to support message catalogs, a directory and file naming organization for the message catalogs themselves, a runtime library supporting the retrieval of translated messages, and a few stand-alone programs to message in various ways the sets of translatable strings, or already translated strings. A special GNU Emacs mode also helps interested parties in preparing these sets, or bringing them up to date.

Usually, programs are written and documented in English, and use English at execution time for interacting with users. Using a common language is quite handy for communication between developers, maintainers and users from all countries. GNU `gettext' is an important step for the GNU Translation Project.

collectd is a daemon which collects system performance statistics periodically and provides mechanisms to store the values in a RRD files. It comes with more than 90 <A HREF="http://collectd.org/wiki/index.php/Table_of_Plugins" target="_blank">Plug-ins</A>, which helps to process, store and present the data in the way we want. 

 collectd utilizes a data push model. The data is collected and sent (pushed) to a multicast group or server. Thus there is no central instance which queries any values. collectd is able to handle any number of hosts, from one to several hundred.
