The pico framework is a modifcation of the standard Viola-Jones method. The basic idea is to scan the image with a cascade of binary classifers at all reasonable positions and scales. An image region is classifed as an object of interest if it successfully passes all the members of the cascade. Each binary classifier consists of an ensemble of decision trees with pixel intensity comparisons as binary tests in their internal nodes. This enables the detector to process image regions at very high speed.

XCP-ng is a virtualization platform based on Xen Source and Citrix® Hypervisor (formerly XenServer). XCP-ng stands for Xen Cloud Platform - New Generation and is a tribute to the old Open Source project XCP, which was abandoned when XenServer was open-sourced in 2013.

PolarDB for PostgreSQL (PolarDB for short) is an open-source database system based on PostgreSQL. It extends PostgreSQL to become a share-nothing distributed database, which supports global data consistency and ACID across database nodes, distributed SQL processing, and data redundancy and high availability through Paxos based replication. PolarDB is designed to add values and new features to PostgreSQL in dimensions of high performance, scalability, high availability, and elasticity. At the same time, PolarDB remains SQL compatibility to standalone PostgreSQL with the best effort.
 
PolarDB will evolve and offer its functions and features in two major parts: an extension and a patch to PostgreSQL. The extension part includes components implemented outside the PostgreSQL kernel, such as distributed transaction management, global or distributed time service, distributed SQL processing, additional metadata, internal functions, and tools to manage database clusters and conduct fault tolerance or recovery. Having most of its functions in a PostgreSQL extension, PolarDB targets easy upgrading, easy migration, and fast adoption. The patch part includes the changes necessary to the kernel, such as distributed MVCC for different isolation levels. We expect functions and codes in the patch part is limited. As a result, PolarDB can be easily upgraded with newer PostgreSQL versions and maintained full compatibility with PostgreSQL.

Fetchmail is a full-featured, robust, well-documented remote-mail retrieval and forwarding utility intended to be used over on-demand TCP/IP links (such as SLIP or PPP connections). It supports every remote-mail protocol now in use on the Internet: POP2, POP3, RPOP, APOP, KPOP, all flavors of IMAP, ETRN, and ODMR. It can even support IPv6 and IPSEC. 
 
Fetchmail retrieves mail from remote mail servers and forwards it via SMTP, so it can then be read by normal mail user agents such as mutt, elm(1) or BSD Mail. It allows all your system MTA's filtering, forwarding, and aliasing facilities to work just as they would on normal mail. Fetchmail can be used as a POP/IMAP-to-SMTP gateway for an entire DNS domain, collecting mail from a single drop box on an ISP and SMTP-forwarding it based on header addresses. (We don't really recommend this, though, as it may lose important envelope-header information. ETRN or a UUCP connection is better.)

libvarnam is a cross platform, self learning, open source library which support transliteration and reverse transliteration for Indian languages. At the core is a C shared library providing algorithms and patterns for transliteration. libvarnam has a simple learning module built-in which can learn words to improve the transliteration experience.

Pixz (pronounced pixie) is a parallel, indexing version of xz. The existing XZ Utils provide great compression in the .xz file format, but they produce just one big block of compressed data. Pixz instead produces a collection of smaller blocks which makes random access to the original data possible. This is especially useful for large tarballs.

The MemcheckView GUI uses the Tool Gear viewer to display and organize Memcheck's output in a way that makes it much easier to examine the most-critical Memcheck warnings first. MemcheckView also displays the relevant source code for each warning and the source code can be viewed for the entire call chain, if desired. The MemcheckView package includes scripts (memcheck_all, memcheck) that provide an easy way to run Memcheck on parallel (MPI) and serial applications. Because Memcheck generates its output file on the fly while the application is running, the MemcheckView tool can monitor this output file and update the display continually. MemcheckView can also read a completed output file after the monitored application has exited.

MemcheckView is a GUI front end for Valgrind's Memcheck tool, which can detect a comprehensive set of memory errors, including reads and writes of unallocated or freed memory, reads of unitialized memory, and memory leaks.

GCJ is a portable, optimizing, ahead-of-time compiler for the Java Programming Language. It can compile Java source code to Java bytecode (class files) or directly to native machine code, and Java bytecode to native machine code. Compiled applications are linked with the GCJ runtime, libgcj, which provides the core class libraries, a garbage collector, and a bytecode interpreter. libgcj can dynamically load and interpret class files, resulting in mixed compiled/interpreted applications. GCJ can also be configured as a cross-compiler, suitable for embedded systems programming. GCJ support on Windows (Cygwin and MinGW) targets has been enhanced with a number of bugfixes, and the option to build libgcj in DLL form for dynamic runtime linking. Support for JNI, as well as CNI, a more efficient and easier-to-use (though non-standard) API for writing Java methods in C++.

Kaffe is a great choice as a base for virtual machine education and/or research, or if you need a virtual machine as an integral component of an open source or free software Java distribution. Kaffe is constantly under development, and lacks compatibility in many ways with the current releases of Java. It lacks many key features of a full Java virtual machine implementation - including security related features such as a complete bytecode verifier essential for running untrusted code. Kaffe is not the best Java virtual machine for developing Java applications, as it lacks much in the way of documentation, compatibility, debugging/profiling support, etc. If you are learning Java, or are looking for a complete Java development environment, you will probably be best served by using a "real" Java development environment (such as the JDK) licensed from Sun.
