post-title

Winglang is a new open-source programming language that unifies cloud infrastructure and application code into a single programming model that works across AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, serverless, and more.

Wing was built from the ground up to make it an ideal choice for building applications on any cloud. It models cloud infrastructure as a first-class citizen, and allows application code to interact with it naturally across the boundaries of the distributed system. Wing compiles to Terraform and JavaScript which can be deployed with standard tooling to any supported cloud provider.

Most of the companies wants to avoid vendor lock-in and distribute their workloads in multiple cloud providers like AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes etc. It is certainly pain point for developers and devops to manage multiple cloud platforms. Wing tries to solve this.

Wing Cloud, the company behind the open-source Wing Programming Language (Winglang), today launches out of stealth with $20Million in seed funding led by Battery Ventures, Grove Ventures, and StageOne Ventures with participation from various industry leaders.

Who is behind Wing Cloud?

Wing Cloud was co-founded by CEO Elad Ben-Israel, creator of myriad open-source projects in the cloud infrastructure space such as the AWS CDK, CDK for Kubernetes, JSII, and Projen; and COO Shai Ber, a former software developer at Microsoft, investor, and founder who went on to sell his company Aniways to Verizon back in 2015.
