post-title

Redhat recently announced that they going to make the source code available only for subscribed users. RHEL is one of the widely used server based Linux operating system. It has a good market share in server. This will affect AlmaLinux, RockyLinux and other OS which are derivative of RHEL.

SUSE is a global leader in innovative, reliable and secure enterprise-grade open source solutions. They are in the Enterprise operating system market for quite long time. The company employs more than 2,000 people globally. SUSE is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

SUSE recently announced that they will fork publicly available RHEL and will develop and maintain a RHEL-compatible distribution available to all without restrictions. They plan to invest $10 million for this project.

It will certainly take some time for SUSE to release their first version. Till then the users of CentOS, AlmaLinux, RockyLinux have to wait and watch or find other best alternative.
