Weekly Product Updates #23-02: Zulip. Debian, openSUSE, JDK21, Kali Linux

Below are few product updates happened in the last week.

Zulip is an open source team chat application, a Slack alternative released 7.0 version. A total of 107 people contributed 3800 commits. In addition to the release, Zulip has started prototype its next generation mobile app using Flutter.

Debian released version 12 Bookworm. This release contains over 11,089 new packages for a total count of 64,419 packages, while over 6,296 packages have been removed as "obsolete". 43,254 packages were updated in this release. The overall disk usage for "bookworm" is 365,016,420 kB (365 GB), and is made up of 1,341,564,204 lines of code. Development team has spent two years to make this happen.

openSUSE Leap 15.5 version released. openSUSE Leap 15.5 offers professional users, entrepreneurs and ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) updated support for modern hardware with improved YaST functionality and an improved installer. Users can expect 18th months (12 + 6) of support. 

JDK 21 is in Rampdown Phase One. The overall feature set is frozen, except for one JEP that is in flight to be dropped. No further JEPs will be targeted to this release.

Kali Linux released version 2023.2a. It has minor release, fixes UEFI issue in base-images, and fix sound in the Hyper-V images.
