Mistral AI - An Open Source AI Startup got $415 million in funding
Mistral AI, an artificial intelligence startup founded by former Meta and Google researchers got $415 million in funding in a seed round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Recently six months ago, they got funding of around $112 million and now again $415 million in small span of time. With this the company valuation is around $2 Billion.
Mistral AI products are competitor to Open AI, Google and Meta AI products. Mistral AI as company belives in open source and open community. They have open sourced their models and it helps users to build chatbots, search engines, online tutors and other AI driven products. Mistral AI brings the strongest open generative models to the developers, along with efficient ways to deploy and customise them for production.
In September, Mistral AI released Mistral 7B large language model which is a pre-trained generative text model with 7 billion parameters. Recently they have released Mixtral 8x7B which is a sparse Mixture-of-Experts model with 12 billion active parameters. Both models are free to download and it is released under Apache license.
Their models are accessible via API and they have recently announced the beta program for developers. The company has commercial plans to make money from their AI platforms.
